Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran was a businesswoman, investor and speaker from the United States. The Corcoran Group was a New York City real estate brokerage that she founded. NRT purchased it for $66 million in 2001. Corcoran eventually left the company. Corcoran was one of ABC's first Shark investors has been part of every episode of Shark Tank. She has participated in 53 deals since February, 2020. The biggest was a $350,000 investment that will pay for 40 percent of Coverplay. Corcoran was born in Edgewater, New Jersey, the youngest of 10 children from a working class Irish Catholic family. [8] Her mother, Florence, was a household worker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father. He was a mover between jobs and another throughout Corcoran's youth. Her family frequently depended on food delivery services for free from a local grocery store. Corcoran states her father was a drunken man who treated her mother with disrespectful and sarcastic remarks. Corcoran struggled throughout her schooling before discovering that she was dyslexic. Corcoran started high school at St. Cecilia High School Englewood after she had left her Catholic elementary school. Corcoran dropped several classes during her first year and transferred to Leonia High School where she was a D student.
